Integrate with Profit Tools

Connect Samsara with Profit Tools to optimize your dispatch board with tractor location sync and current driver availability.

The integration includes the following features:

• Sync unit location with Profit Tools based on Samsara GPS

• See driver available hours in Profit Tools based on Samsara ELD data

Requirements

• Profit Tools:

  • Profit Tools 7.2.33 or a later version

    To verify your Profit Tools version, navigate to Help > Program Info.

  • All driver and unit references must be an exact match between Samsara and Profit Tools (case sensitive)

• Samsara: API access with Read permissions

Deployment

Profit Tools built the integration and will assist with deployments as needed. If there are any issues, please contact Profit Tools Support.

1. Create a Samsara API Token named Profit Tools Integration with the following granular scopes:

   • Compliance: Read ELD Compliance Settings (US)

   • Drivers: Read Drivers

   • Vehicles:

     • Read Vehicles

     • Read Vehicle Statistics

   For more information on creating an API token, see Get Started with the Samsara API.

2. Enter your API token in Profit Tools.

   1. Select ELD > ELD Setup.

   2. Select the Providers tab and then select Samsara.

   3. Enter the Samsara API token in the password field.

3. Sync tractor location:

   1. Select ELD > Device Setup.

   2. On the Equipment tab, select Add and choose a tractor that you want to sync with Samsara from the list.

   3. Select Samsara as the Type.

      You will see the user Ref Number and Unit ID populate.

      Note

      The unit Ref Number must match the Samsara vehicle name exactly.

4. Sync driver duty status:

   1. Select ELD > Device Setup.

   2. On the Drivers tab, select Add and choose a driver that you want to sync with Samsara from the list.

   3. Select Samsara as the Provider.

      You will see the user Ref Number and Unit ID populate.

      Note

      The unit Ref Number must match the Samsara vehicle name exactly.

   4. Return to ELD > ELD Setup.

   5. Select the driver and change the Provider to Samsara.

   6. Save your changes and then Test Setup.

      After testing is complete you will receive a prompt informing you that ELD setup was successful.
