The Trip History Report displays vehicle trip information to track the driving habits of your fleet and enables you to reconstruct the movement of your assets. The Trip History Report utilizes tracking information from a Vehicle Gateway (VG) or an Asset Gateway (AG) (models AG21, AG26, AG46-P, or AG15) to provide detailed driving activity for your fleet trips.
The Trip History Report displays information about meaningful trip segments. A trip is considered meaningful when both of the following conditions are met:
-
The trip is longer than 5 minutes.
-
The trip is not a yard trip (or shorter than 1 mile in distance).
To view your Trip History Report, navigate to Reports ( ) > Activity > Trip History. For each trip, the report displays the start and end location, vehicle and trailer, driver name, and distance. For each trip with a vehicle gateway, you can also view images for the trip captured every five minutes and a Trip Speeding Summary. The report displays the following information, dependent on your gateway type:
Field |
Description |
---|---|
Trip |
Details about the trip including the Trip start location (A) with timestamp, trip end location (B) with timestamp, and total duration between the stops. For scheduled reports that occur while a trip is in progress, the duration displays a dash. This can differ from the duration value that displayed in the Samsara dashboard which continuously calculates and updates the duration of stops in real time. |
Asset |
The vehicle or trailer that generated the trip |
Linked Assets |
For VGs, the linked asset is the AG name that the driver selected as a trailer. See Trailer Selection in Customizable Driver App Settings for more information. For AGs, the linked asset is proximity paired with the trailer VG during the trip. |
Driver |
The name of the driver that selected the asset at the start of the trip Trips with unassigned drivers will not have safety scores for the person who drove that trip. If the driver lists as Unassigned, click Unassigned and select the correct driver from the drop down. |
Distance |
The distance travelled during the duration of the trip segment, calculated from GPS data |
More details (VG only) |
The trip timeline, images, and speeding summary details generated during the trip (see Speeding Reports for more information on the speeding summary) |
To narrow the scope of the report, filter by Tags, Attributes, Asset Type, or Asset Name. You can also use the date selector to narrow or widen the report scope for a specific date range.
For archival or reporting purposes, you can also export the Trip History report to a comma-separated values (CSV) file from the more actions menu (...).
