After you enroll your organization in Samsara MEM, you can manage your Mobile Experience Management (MEM) policies. For each policy, you can customize set of applications, Wi-Fi configurations, settings restrictions, and other rules to enforce on your MEM-enrolled devices.
On Settings > MEM > Policy in your dashboard, you can view your existing policies. To view more details about a policy, you can click the down arrow.
Initially, you will only have a Default policy that you can configure by clicking the three dots in the policy card and selecting edit.
Editing a policy will:
-
Change the policy that is configured on newly provisioned devices.
-
Automatically update any internet connected devices that are already provisioned with the new settings specified in the policy
For each policy, you can:
-
Enable Samsara Launcher functionality
-
Change the apps that are relevant for your devices and specify whether they appear on your home screen and in-motion screen. Only apps that are explicitly specified will be available for users to access on the device.
-
Specify advanced applications settings for select apps like Google Chrome, which allows for restricting internet access to custom websites.
-
Specify rules for system updates.
-
Choose the complexity and length of passwords that you want to enforce on a device.
-
Pre-configure any number of Wi-Fi credentials so that the device is automatically set up to connect to the Samsara hotspot or another network of your choice.
-
Set the location detection method for enrolled devices. You can configure the detection method in the General settings of your MEM policy. Note that changing the location detection method can affect the accuracy of the device location information.
-
If the Samsara Launcher is installed, restrict access to the Settings app entirely or select functionality.
-
If the Samsara Launcher is installed, choose your safety settings and home screen display settings.
-
If the required apps are installed, and remote support is enabled, you can Remotely View and Control a Managed Device.
