Stoneridge Compatibility and Remote Download Activation

Before Samsara can capture VU and Driver Card data from the Stoneridge tachograph, you must configure the C-CAN parameters for remote download.

Supported Stoneridge Tachograph Hardware and Accessories

Samsara supports the Stoneridge SE5000 VU version 7.2 and later. This hardware supports communication with a remote download ECU (FMS unit) on the C-CAN bus. For the FMS to capture the VU and Driver Card data, the VU parameters must be set as described below. Additionally, the C-CAN connections must be wired as follows:

• C5 is CAN high

• C7 is CAN low

• If termination is required, C8 and C7 must be shunted

Tachograph Settings

Configure the Stoneridge Tachograph for remote downloads as described in the following table:

If you need to change the parameters, you must have the workshop card inserted into the VU and the PIN code entered. The parameters can be read using Optimo 3.1 and later releases. If the C-CAN parameters have been modified, you must disconnect and reconnect the VU for the new settings to be recognized.

Setting	Description
C-CAN	Enable or Disable DDS over C-CAN. This setting does not impact Remote Download.
C-CAN Type	Most current FMS systems will accept Standard. For vehicles equipped with a Fleetboard, this must be set to Fast Extended.
C-CAN Diagnostics (or A-CAN Diagnostics if the RDL device is connected on A-CAN)	Most current FMS systems, including the Mercedes Fleetboard, require ISO.
Remote download activation status	Enable Remote Download function activation
Remote Download C CAN configuration	Set to Enable. Make sure Remote Download A CAN configuration is set to Disable, or vice-versa. Activate Remote Download on only one CAN at a time.
Remote download card writing	Disable is recommended.
Show remote download	Set to No to enforce silent remote downloads where the driver is unaware that a remote download is taking place.
Wake-up on CAN	Set to C-CAN or Both: If the SE5000 is already set to A-CAN, change this to Both. If it is Off, change it to C-CAN. If this is OFF, Remote Download will require Ignition ON.
