For transportation of temperature-sensitive goods, reefer temperature control is critical to ensure product quality. Samsara asset gateways enable you to monitor and remotely control the temperature of your reefer units to meet strict FSMA compliance requirements and avoid costly potential load losses.
Currently, Samsara supports two reefer manufacturers, Carrier and Thermo King. See AG26 Reefer Compatibility and Cable Matrix for cable requirements and compatibility details.
With reefer integrations, you can monitor and control your reefer trailers:
-
Reefer Monitoring: track sensor data, view alerts, and historical environment trends.
-
Reefer Management: view and manage asset reefer controls.
-
Reefer API: build applications to provide custom solutions for your reefer data.
After you activate and install your Asset Gateway, you can view historical trends or view all of your reefers in the Trailers Asset Report (Overview > Assets > Trailers). Select Trailer Type Reefer to narrow the scope of the results to your reefer trailers.
For more advanced asset monitoring, select an asset to view the asset detail page where you can:
-
Control your sensors and trailer functions with Reefer Management
-
View sensor Environment Graph Overlay
-
View Reefer Alerts
After you pair a sensor to your Asset Gateway, you can view historical sensor data throughout a trip for time periods when the reefer was powered on. From the asset detail page, select Environment graph data to view trip data for Environmental Monitoring (EM) sensors, door sensors, or cargo sensors. Select one or more sensors to view the data for only those sensors. Hover over a data point to view the location of the reading on the graph.
To manage abnormal events with your reefer trailers, you can enable reefer alarms. When an alarm activates on your reefer, you can read and clear the alarm from the dashboard. See Create or Edit Alerts to configure reefer alerts.
Samsara provides a variety of reports to monitor your sensor data and reefer activity. The sensor Environment report provides insight into sensor data, such as temperature and humidity data. Use this data to investigate temperature and humidity changes throughout a trip and to monitor discrepancies between zones within a reefer or trailer.
The Reefer Temperature Report provides average, real-time, and historical reefer temperature data of your fleet, such as discharge air, ambient air, and reefer mode.
For an enhanced beta version of these reports, see Asset Based Environment which provides a consolidated view of reefer sensor data organized by asset.
Live temperature data is available for the reefer trailer when the reefer is powered on. From the asset detail page, you can view the Environment sensor data and view or edit the Reefer Controls. Reefer control edits can take up to two minutes for the command to take effect.
Admin roles and custom roles with Reefer Control can monitor and manage Reefer Controls.
