Before you perform the AG52 device setup, ensure the device is active in the Samsara dashboard and review the Powered Asset Gateway Installation Options. By default, Samsara assigns a Trailer asset type for AG52 installations. For equipment installations, you must reassign the AG to an Equipment asset type to enable equipment-specific features and to properly track engine hours.
To perform the AG52 device setup, select from one the setup options:
You can connect the AG52 directly to a powered asset to initiate an automatic setup (recommended). To perform the device setup utilizing the power from the asset:

Install AG52 on Equipment or a Dry-Van Trailer. Ensure all connections are secure and the asset is actively supplying power to the AG52.
The LED flashes green every 3 seconds for up to 5 minutes while the device attempts to check in with the Samsara dashboard. After the device determines status, the LED displays a color LED for 5 seconds to indicate the connection status. To surface the most recent check-in information to the Samsara dashboard, double-press the setup button.

Perform the action that corresponds to the observed solid LED behavior:
Status: Unsuccessful connection: Cellular connection fail, GPS fail

Ensure that the device is outside and avoid obstructions such as underground structures, heavily insulated buildings, bridges, and trees.

Ensure that the device has a clear view of the sky and is within cellular range.

Press and hold the button for 1-2 seconds and perform the action that corresponds to the observed LED behavior.
Status: Partial connection: Cellular connection OK, GPS fail

If you are unable to perform the device setup utilizing power from the asset, you can perform a manual device setup:

To initiate a test ping, press and hold the button on the AG faceplate until the LED illuminates green, for no more than 2-3 seconds.
Warning
If you press the setup button for more than 4 seconds, the device will reboot. If the device reboots, wait five minutes before you restart the test ping in this step.
