Pair a Samsara Sensor to an Asset Gateway

Samsara sensors, including the Environmental Monitor (EM21 and EM22), Door Monitor (DM11), and Cargo Monitor, automatically connect with compatible Asset Gateway models. Multiple sensors can be associated with a single gateway to provide a comprehensive view in the state of an asset.

Asset Gateway and Sensor Compatibility

The following Asset Gateways support Samsara sensors:

Add a Sensor

To add a sensor to your organization:

• Activate the device in your dashboard if you have not already done so.

  Your sensor links to the closest compatible Asset Gateway with the strongest connection unless you manually pin the device to a specific gateway.

(Optional) Pin a Sensor to a Gateway

If you opt to manually pin a sensor to a specific Asset Gateway instead of allowing auto-detection of the nearest gateway, the sensor information will populate in association with the pinned gateway, but may also use other gateways to upload the sensor data.

To pin the sensor to an Asset Gateway:

1. Select the Settings icon ( ) at the bottom of your Fleet menu to view dashboard settings.

2. Navigate to Devices > Sensors.

3. Locate the sensor in the device list and click more actions menu (...) and then click Edit on the device row.

4. Locate the option to Pin sensor to a particular Gateway, select the gateway from the list and Save the assignment.
