Site Alert Types

Samsara provides different types of alerts that you can use to monitor important events for your organization. For each use case, there are one or more types of alerts that you can customize. The configuration steps for each alert differ by the alert type and version. In the tables below, v 1.0 denotes legacy alerts and v 2.0 denotes alerts introduced in October 2022 or a later release.

The following table describes the types of alerts that you can set up to receive notifications about your site deployment.

Alert Name	Description
Camera Disconnected v 2.0	Alert for camera connectivity. To set a Camera Disconnected alert, specify the duration after which you want to raise an alert and the alert source (all assets, specific tags, or specific assets).
Cloud Backup Upload Issues v 2.0	Alert when a Site Gateway falls over 24 hours behind in uploading video due to low internet bandwidth. A banner will display on all Cloud Backup enabled streams in addition to any specified alert contacts. To set a Cloud Backup Upload Issues alert, specify the alert source (all assets, specific tags, or specific assets).
Motion Detection v 2.0	Alert when motion is detected within a camera frame or Area of Interest. This alert is useful for monitoring critical areas or non-business hour(s) activity. To set a Motion Detection alert, specify the duration after which you want to raise an alert and the alert source (camera streams and areas of interest).
No Motion Detected v 2.0	Alert if there is no motion for a specified time period. For this alert, you can specify one or more cameras and areas of interest. To set a No Motion Detection alert, specify the duration after which you want to raise an alert and the alert source (camera streams and areas of interest).
Person Detected v 2.0	Alert when one or more persons is detected within a camera frame or Area of Interest. This alert is useful for monitoring high-risk areas when people are active or to recognize when too many people are in one area. To set a Person Detected alert, specify the number of people, duration after which you want to raise an alert, and the alert source (camera streams and areas of interest).
Site Gateway Disconnected v 2.0	Monitor the connection health of your Site Gateways on the network and alert when the connection drops. To set a Site Gateway Disconnected alert, specify the duration after which you want to raise an alert and the alert source (all assets, specific tags, or specific assets).
Vehicle Detected v 2.0	(Beta) Alert when a vehicle is detected within a camera frame or Area of Interest. This alert is useful for monitoring high-risk areas where vehicles are active or to recognize when an unexpected vehicle is present. To set a Vehicle Detected alert, specify the number of people, duration after which you want to raise an alert, and the alert source (camera streams and areas of interest).
