Integrate with NISC Enterprise

Sync Samsara vehicle locations with NISC's utility management system to optimize vehicle dispatch to an outage location.

The integration enables you to sync vehicle GPS with NISC to show current location in the Outage Management System (OMS) so that managers can appropriately dispatch a vehicle to an outage location.

Enable this integration using either of the following third-party System Integrators on the Samsara Expert Marketplace:

• NISC Enterprise Integration by SwingDev

• NISC Enterprise Integration by XDS

NISC Enterprise Integration by SwingDev

SwingDev is a third-party system integrator that can enable the integration with NISC Enterprise.

Requirements

• NISC: None

• Samsara: Samsara API token with read scope

• SwingDev: Statement of work (SOW) and subscription agreement to implement/support the integration

Deployment

1. Contact SwingDev by email at [e-mail] or complete the Project Estimator online to confirm the integration scope and get a quote.

2. Complete the SOW with Swing Dev.

3. Download your list of vehicles including the unique Samsara Vehicle ID.

   1. Go to Settings > Devices > More Actions > Upload CSV.

   2. Click on Gateways List.

      Column A will contain the Vehicle ID.

      Note

      The report includes a G in front of the 15-digit number. When you provide the vehicle IDs to your representative to use as the AVL ID, you must remove the leading G such that only the 15-digit number remains.

   If you need help finding the unique Samsara Vehicle ID, ask Samsara Support.

4. Create a Samsara API Token named NISC Integration with the following granular scopes in the Vehicles category:

   • Read Vehicles

   • Read Vehicle Statistics

5. Notify your NISC representative that you want to enable vehicle location sync with Samsara.

   If you do not have an existing relationship with NISC, reach out through the NISC contact form with the following:

   • Ask for endpoint data for the GPS integration

   • Provide a list of Samsara vehicles including the unique Samsara Vehicle ID which will be used as the Map Code or AVL ID in NISC.

   NISC will complete vehicle ID mapping in their software.

6. Send the Samsara API Token and NISC endpoint data to SwingDev to enable the integration.

   After the integration is enabled, vehicle position data will display in NISC.

NISC Enterprise Integration by XDS

XDS is a third-party system integrator that can enable the integration with NISC Enterprise.

Requirements

• NISC: None

• Samsara: Samsara API token with read scope

• XDS: Statement of work (SOW) and subscription agreement to implement/support the integration

1. Contact XDS by email at [e-mail] or complete the Project Estimator online to confirm the integration scope and get a quote.

2. Complete the SOW with XDS.

3. Download your list of vehicles including the unique Samsara Vehicle ID.

   1. Go to Settings > Devices > More Actions > Upload CSV.

   2. Click on Gateways List.

4. In your Samsara dashboard, navigate to Settings > Apps.

5. Search for and then select NISC by XDS to install the app.

   Samsara generates an API token with the appropriate scopes.

6. Notify your NISC representative that you want to enable vehicle location sync with Samsara.

   If you do not have an existing relationship with NISC, reach out through the NISC contact form with the following:

   • Ask for endpoint data for the GPS integration

   • Provide a list of Samsara vehicles including the unique Samsara Vehicle ID which will be used as the Map Code or AVL ID in NISC.

   NISC will complete vehicle ID mapping in their software.

7. Email the Samsara API Token and OMS endpoint data to XDS at [e-mail] and request the Samsara integration for NISC.

   XDS will guide you through remaining setup steps.

   After the integration is enabled, vehicle position data will display in NISC.
