Gateway Health Report – Samsara Development Sandbox

Use the Gateway Health Report to view the current health status of all Vehicle Gateways (VGs) and Asset Gateways (AGs) in your fleet (Reports ( ) > Devices > Gateway Health). To access the Gateway Health report, you must have a Full Admin role (see Administrative Roles).

You can view the report in your dashboard or configure the report to be delivered on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis for any tags in their organization.

The report is divided into two sections:

Gateway Health Summary

The Gateway Health summary displays the health of your devices to enable you to monitor your device status from the Samsara dashboard. The summary provides at-a-glance information that you can use to identify issues with your gateways.

The gateway summary is divided into three chart widgets (All Gateways, Vehicle Gateways, and Asset Gateways) to highlight the distribution of gateways by type and health status. At the center of each chart is the percentage of healthy gateways in your fleet.

To narrow the scope of the report, select a Health Status, Tag, or Gateway Type by model. The following tables provide a breakdown of health statuses and recommended troubleshooting actions for each gateway type (Vehicle Gateway (VG), Powered Asset Gateway (AG), and Unpowered Asset Gateway (AG).

Vehicle Gateway Device Health Status

Use the following table to determine your device health status. For more troubleshooting options, see Vehicle Gateway (VG) Troubleshooting.

Healthy	Healthy	Gateway is currently connected or has successfully checked-in with location within the past 24 hours.	N/A
Healthy	Vehicle Off	Gateway is connected correctly and the vehicle has been turned off and/or a battery isolator or kill switch is in use.	N/A
Monitor	Weak Cellular Signal	Gateway has weak cellular signal.	Move gateway to an area with better cellular coverage.
Monitor	Weak GPS Signal	Gateway has weak GPS signal. The gateway could be indoors, in an area of bad weather, or isn’t getting a clear view of the sky.	Move gateway outside to an area with better GPS signal.
Monitor	Low Charging State	Gateway has not received charge for more than 14 days.	If the gateway is in use, ensure gateway is receiving power and that connections are secure.
Monitor	Low Vehicle Battery	Last known vehicle battery is between 1 and 8 Volts.	Check the vehicle battery to see if it needs replacement.
Monitor	Temporarily Offline	Samsara has not received data from the gateway recently.	For a vehicle in regular use without a battery isolator, manually reboot the gateway and ensure the cable is attached securely.
Needs Attention	Prolonged Offline	Samsara has not received data from gateway in over 90 days.	Check that the cable is attached securely, and manually reboot the gateway.
Needs Attention	Requires Investigation	Gateway requires further investigation.	Gateway offline for 14+ days. Manually reboot the gateway.
Not Installed	Not Installed	Gateway has never been connected.	Review the gateway installation instructions. Wait at least 5 minutes after install for dashboard to update.

Powered Asset Gateway Device Health

AG26/46P Device Health and Definitions

Use the following table to determine your device health status. For more troubleshooting options, reference AG26/AG46P Powered Asset Gateway (AG) Troubleshooting.

Gateway Health Details

Below the Gateway Health summary, you can view additional details about your gateways.

Use the search to filter the gateways by a partial gateway name or serial number.

The following table describes the fields in the Gateway Health details view.

Field	Description
Health Status	Health of the specific device and the number of days in the status.
Recommended Action	Short description of the action to take to address statuses in Monitor or Needs Attention states.
Name	Name assigned to the gateway or gateway serial number if no name is provided.
Last Known Location	Last known physical location where the gateway was reported and the length of time at which the checkin occurred.
Device Last Connected	Date on which the gateway last checked in with the Samsara cloud.
Cell Connectivity	Graph displaying the level of cellular connectivity reported by the gateway.
Vehicle Battery (Volts)	Reading, in volts, for the vehicle battery level. Note This field displays `N/A` for assets that are not assigned to a vehicle.
Gateway Battery (Volts)	Reading, in volts, for the gateway battery level. Note This field displays `N/A` for Vehicle Gateways (VG34s).

After you review the health details for a gateway, you can take further action from the more actions menu (...) in the gateway row to open a support ticket or to begin the process to exchange the device for another one.
