You can prioritize your fleet's vehicle alerts and identify critical issues in real time using Samsara Vehicle Fault alert notifications. In addition to alert notifications for warning lamp fault codes, Samsara supports the ability to create Vehicle Fault alerts, also known as Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) alerts, for publicly available DTCs when a vehicle fault code is read through the OBD-II or J1939 connector cable on a vehicle.
See Alert Triggers for more information on how to enable alert configurations. Within the Fault Code alert configuration, apply the alert to Specific fault codes to enable this functionality. You can choose to receive alert notifications for Warning Lamp or DTC Alerts.
After you enable specific fault codes, you can also choose to receive notifications for illuminated check engine lamps. To avoid receiving a false alert from a light flicker, Samsara recommends applying a longer time threshold for engine lamp alerts.
Note
-
Amber Warning Lamp and Protection Lamp illuminations are common and you may receive more alerts that meet these conditions than you initially expect.
-
Lamp alerts do not contain a specific fault code.
To receive alerts for recognized J1939 and OBDII DTCs, choose the DTC or search from the drop-down menu.
