Integrate with Canal Insurance

Canal TestDrive is a pay-as-you-drive program that features a telematics device provided by Samsara that Canal Insurance Company sends directly to you.

This integration includes the following features:

• After installing the device to your truck, the miles driven will be reported electronically on a monthly basis to calculate the insurance cost

• Canal covers the entire cost of the device for as long as you’re in the program

Requirements

• Canal Insurance: None

• Samsara:

  • Vehicle Gateways (VGs) installed in your vehicles

  • Read only API access granted to Canal

Deployment

Canal built the integration and will assist with deployments as needed. If there are any issues, please contact Canal Support.

1. Contact your Canal representative and ask for the Samsara integration.

   If you’re not already in touch, reach out through the Canal TestDrive program.

2. After you are approved for the program, authorize the Canal integration with read access.

   1. Click the enablement link shared by Canal.

   2. Enter your Samsara credentials and then click Allow on the consent screen.
