Share a Video with a Driver

As part of the driver coaching workflow, coaches can share safety videos with drivers to enable coaches to conduct evidence-based coaching conversations.

To facilitate video sharing during safety event review, coaches share the event video with the assigned driver. Drivers can then access the shared videos on the Driver Portal, on desktop, or on the mobile web.

Note

At this time, there is no integration with the Driver App.

After a coach shares a driver video, the safety event in the Safety Inbox displays a Waiting Driver Review label next to the coaching status. After a driver reviews the video, the label changes to a green Driver Reviewed label.

Before an event can be coached and the video shared with the driver, a driver must first be assigned to the safety event either by automatic assignment, such as facial recognition or API, or by manual assignment from the driver or administrator.

If the video is shared with a driver, but the coach reassigns the event to another driver, the video will no longer be visible in the original driver's Driver Portal. The coach must re-share the video to the newly assigned driver.

To share an event video with a driver:

1. From the Samsara dashboard, select Safety ( ) > Safety Inbox.

2. To narrow the number of results, filter by Tags, Event Type, assigned Safety Manager, modify the date range, or use the event search.

3. Select the video thumbnail to view the safety event details.

4. Below the event video, click Share with driver.

   

5. Click Share to allow the driver access to the video in the Driver Portal.

6. Click OK to acknowledge the video share with the driver.

7. To monitor the video sharing status for an event, return to the Safety Inbox.

Review Videos as a Driver

After a coach shares a safety event video with you, you can review the event video in the Driver Portal using your fleet ID and driver username. If that your Driver Profile includes your cell phone number, you will receive a text notification to view the video.

Use the following workflow to access the the video share:

1. Click the link in the text message or go to the Driver Portal website and enter your password to log into the Driver Portal.

   The fleet ID and username auto-populate on the Driver Portal access website. After you enter your password, your session remains active for 31 days.

2. Review the event video.

   The safety event details display on the event image, including speed data, the event label, and timestamp. The trip summary and the Safety Tip display below the event video.

   

3. After you review the video, Mark event as reviewed.

4. Click the back icon ( ) to view the Inbox of prior and current shared Training Videos.

   The Inbox displays reviewed video with a Reviewed label, followed by the timestamp of the review. The Inbox displays events awaiting review with a NEEDS REVIEW label.
