There are two different types of audits that your fleet may encounter:
-
In-house audit: An in-house audit takes place in a fleet's back office as a practice run for a roadside inspection. The inspection official requests reports from the Samsara dashboard to review for compliance. Typically a Compliance Manager interacts with an inspection official to conduct the audit. For more information, see Prepare for an in-house audit.
-
A roadside audit: A roadside audit or inspection occurs when an inspector pulls over a driver on the side of the road. Drivers can be pulled over during a roadside inspection and asked to show their logs. This entails a driver interacting with a law enforcement officer. In a roadside audit, the driver can either email the logs or transmit them wirelessly to the inspection authority. For more information, see Transfer logs for a roadside-audit.
