If the battery for a Driver ID token (ACC-DRIVERID) requires replacement, follow this procedure.
What you will need:

Small flathead screwdriver, recommended 1/16th inch or similar

Replacement battery type CR2032 (available in most hardware stores)

Verify the current battery level for the Driver ID token:

In the Samsara dashboard go to Reports > Devices > Gateway Health.

Select the Accessories tab.

Review the Driver ID Token Health Status to verify the battery level.
If the Health Status is
Low Sensor Battery
, it is recommended to replace the battery. If the Health Status isStatus Unknown
, this indicates the Driver ID has been offline for 14 or more days after the last known cellular signal and battery level were healthy. If the issue persists after battery replacement, contact Support for assistance.

To replace the battery, orient the Driver ID with the Samsara logo face up.
There are four internal tabs securing the cover onto the back, one on each side.

Use a small flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the seam between the cover and back in the center of one side until the internal tab disengages.
The cover will sit slightly ajar on this first side.

Repeat the process on additional sides until the cover comes fully off.

Remove the battery and replace it with a new CR2032 battery, ensuring that it fits snug in the metal contacts with the positive side facing up.

Re-align the top cover with the back so the keyring holes in the corners and internal tabs match up.

Firmly press cover back into place until fully engaged with back.

Repeat the process described in Step 1, to verify the healthy status of the battery.
The status can take a few minutes to update on the dashboard after reconnecting with a gateway device.
