Name a Gateway

When you first add a gateway, the Samsara dashboard identifies it by serial number. For ease of management and identification, use descriptive names for your gateways.

Note

Drivers must select the vehicle every time they sign into the Samsara Driver App. By default, drivers select the vehicle by the gateway serial number unless you set a different descriptive name.

There are two ways to rename a gateway: when you Edit an Individual Vehicle Gateway (VG) and when you edit the vehicle properties from the Samsara dashboard:

1. Navigate to Overview ( ) > Assets > Vehicles.

2. Locate the vehicle from the Vehicles list and click the more actions menu (...) > Settings.

   

3. Enter your preferred vehicle Name.

4. Save your changes.
