Camera Health Obstruction and Misalignment [Beta]

The Camera Health report (Reports ( ) > Devices > Camera Health) enables you to quickly gauge the health of your dash cams and camera connectors to determine when action is required. To ensure dash cams can detect AI events accurately, in addition to the health statuses displayed in the Camera Health Overview, the Samsara dashboard can also surface an issue with detection, such as a misalignment or an obstruction to the dash cam view.

To view the Camera Health reports, you must be a Full Admin or have a custom role with the Safety permission to view Camera Health.

The following table provides a summary of dash cam misalignment and obstruction health statuses and the recommended troubleshooting actions:

Health Status	Issue and Recommended Action	Description
Camera Misaligned	Extreme tilt or rotation detected on the outward-facing dash cam. Reposition dash cam and Test Dash Cam Positioning.	The position of the outward-facing dash cam is not aligned with the horizon. Examples of misalignment include: Heavy tilt, such as towards the sky or towards the vehicle dash Dash cam is rotated or installed upside down
Outward Camera Obstruction	Object is obscuring the outward-facing dash cam view. Remove obstruction and Test Dash Cam Positioning.	The outward-facing dash cam does not have a clear view of the road.
Inward Camera Obstruction	Object is obscuring the inward-facing dash cam view. Remove obstruction and Test Dash Cam Positioning.	If enabled, the dash cam detects when an inward-facing dash cam does not have a clear view of the vehicle cab.
