Below are the steps to get started with Samsara Mobile Experience Management (MEM) and to provision your first device.
To manage and set up devices, you must be assigned a Full Admin role or a custom role with the following permissions.
-
MEM:
-
Mobile Experience Management: Edit and remove enterprise, policy, and devices associated with Samsara's MEM
-
-
Essentials:
Please reach out to your CSM or Samsara contact if you have any questions.
To get started:
-
Enroll Your Organization. This enables access to all relevant MEM configuration, management, and reporting features in your Samsara dashboard.
Note
You must use a non-G-Suite account ending in @gmail.com to sign up. If the browser session you are using is already logged in with a different Gmail account, the page will default to the signed in account. Make sure you are logged in with the email address that you want to use to enroll with MEM before proceeding.
-
Configure your MEM policy. Here, you establish the rules that you want to enforce on devices associated with a given policy. You will always start with a default policy. Some of the most important settings in a policy to configure for the first time are:
-
Applications available to enrolled devices
-
Wi-Fi network credentials to provide to enrolled devices
-
Focus mode to activate when the vehicle is in-motion. You can also edit or add focus mode templates.
-
Text to appear on device home screen when vehicle is stopped. You can also edit or add home screen templates.
-
-
Provision a Device and Set up the Samsara Agent. When you provision a device, the Samsara MEM will automatically install all rules configured in the assigned policy, and the device will appear as an enrolled device in the dashboard.
-
Manage Enrolled Mobile Devices. At any time, you can perform actions to manage your enrolled devices. This includes viewing your device locations, identifying the OS versions, change the display names, resetting enrolled devices to their factory settings, and restarting devices. In addition, you can reassign devices to different policies, and continue to modify your policies and device displays as you see fit.
