With Stream Search, you can select a specific area of a stream and retroactively search for motion or people activity only within that designated area. All other activity is temporarily filtered out of the activity timeline.
To use stream search:
-
Open a camera stream using one of the following methods:
-
From a quick view, click a stream for a camera.
-
From Streaming, select the row for a camera.
-
From Streaming > Views, select the view, and then a camera stream.
-
From Sites, select a site, and then a camera.
-
-
Click on the magnifying glass in the top left corner of the stream.
-
Select the area on the grid where you want to isolate activity.
Samsara displays activity where motion and people are detected within the bounding area. Gray bars along the activity timeline indicate motion and blue bars indicate people within the bounding area.
-
To filter results, toggle between motion detection or people detection.
-
For motion detection, select the Motion button below the activity timeline and configure the following settings as desired:
-
Select Must include motion to isolate activity to only motion that occurs within the bounding area. When this option is selected, the activity timeline excludes people detection.
-
Slide the Magnitude level depending on the desired level of sensitivity. You can also specify magnitude in terms of a percentage value. Set as default if you want to apply the settings to future camera streams.
-
-
For people detection, select the Person button below the activity timeline and configure the following settings as desired:
-
Select Must include person to isolate activity to one or more persons detected within the bounding area. When this option is selected, the activity timeline excludes motion detection that doesn't involve a person.
-
(Beta) Further refine the activity results by clothing color. You can independently choose one or more colors for the top and bottom.
-
-
-
Scan through and then select any event you want to examine along the activity timeline.
Use the playback controls at the bottom right of the video as desired to pause, rewind, or fast forward the footage. You can also use the skip buttons to jump to forward or backward to the next activity.
-
After you locate the footage, you can select the time segment beneath the activity timeline to take further action if desired. This includes saving the footage to the video library, downloading the footage, and sharing the footage.
