For each administrative user, you can create an account with a tailored set of access restrictions and permissions. There are two ways to manage and control user access in Samsara dashboard:
-
User roles: Use user roles to create a set of permissions for a group of users. You can then assign individual users to roles. For example, you can create a user role for all individuals that need to view or edit.
-
Tags: Use tags to restrict access to assets at the individual asset level or at organization level. You can limit access to a specific asset such as a cameras, or a group of assets such as all cameras at a location. For example, consider a safety manager from the Texas warehouse who is assigned a Safety role. If you wanted the safety manager to be able to view only the cameras in the Texas warehouse and not all the other warehouses you have in your organization, you can use a location-based tag called Texas and assign it to this user.
