The EV (electric vehicle) Suitability Report (Reports > Fuel & Energy > EV Suitability) displays all of the vehicles in your fleet that are suitable for electrification; you can use the report to prioritize the replacement of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles with EVs. To help you transition to a more sustainable fleet, the EV Suitability report includes Electrification Criteria Customization that generates an Electrification Suitability Rating. Samsara recommends replacing vehicles with a higher rating (Excellent) first, as vehicles with a higher rating indicate inefficiencies (such as high mileage and low fuel efficiency).
For your convenience, you can adjust the report to display specific vehicles in your fleet. For instance, if you want to replace vehicles in a specific depot first, you can select Tags in the report to filter the results. You can also change the time period using the date selector () to specifically consider vehicle data from a particular month or season. The default time period is 30 days.
Both light and heavy-duty vehicles are displayed in the report. Vehicles that do not meet any of the following electrification criteria will not be displayed in the report.
To determine if a vehicle is suitable for electrification, this report uses the following criteria:

Lifetime Usage: The vehicle odometer (number of miles the vehicle has traveled). Vehicles that have a mileage greater than the set value meet the criteria.

Avg. Fuel Efficiency: Average fuel efficiency. Vehicles that have a MPG less than the set value meet the criteria.

Avg. Daily Range: Average daily range (how far a vehicle typically travels). Vehicles that have an average daily range less than the set value meet the criteria.

Max Daily Range: Maximum daily range. Vehicles that have a max daily range less than the set value meet the criteria.

Est. Annual Fuel Savings: This is the estimated calculated annual cost for fuel based on fuel consumption. Vehicles that have an estimated annual fuel savings greater than the set value meet the criteria. This can be based on the national average fuel cost or the fuel cost number of your organization.

Est. Annual Emissions Savings: This is the estimated annual emissions of the vehicle based on fuel consumption. Vehicles that have estimated annual emissions savings greater than the set value meet the criteria.
You can customize Your Electrification Criteria by selecting Edit to either customize the criteria or Use Recommended Criteria for Light Duty and Heavy Duty Vehicles.
The default values are recommended values for each criteria based on when the vehicle type, either light or heavy duty, should be retired. For example, for Light Duty vehicles, the Lifetime Usage criteria is 100,000 miles as vehicles with a mileage greater than 100,000 miles are often considered to be replaced with a newer vehicle.
You can change any of the set values in the report to suit the preferences of your organization. You can also remove criteria from displaying in the report. When you remove criteria (such as Lifetime Usage), the criteria will not be included in the suitability rating.
The EV Suitability report summarizes the qualifications of vehicles in your fleet. You can customize or view the details of the criteria used in the Summary with Electrification Criteria Customization.
The report rates vehicle electrification suitability using the following descriptions:

Excellent: The vehicle meets 80% of the criteria.

Good: The vehicle meets between 50% and 80% of the criteria.

Okay: The vehicle meets between 15% and 50% of the criteria.

Not Suitable: The vehicle meets less than 15% of the criteria. Vehicles that are Not Suitable will not show up in the report.
