Driver Rulesets for Europe

If your fleet travels through Europe but a driver has exemptions from local regulations, you can customize driver rulesets that are specific to your fleet locale.

Examples of situations in which a driver may have an exemption include:

• The industry in which the driver operates (such as governmental organizations)

• Job type (such as operating a passenger transit vehicle within a certain radius)

• Vehicle type (such as non-tachograph vehicles)

• Local regulations that are more accurately classified as recommendations rather than a strict infringement

For each ruleset, you can configure any of the applicable rules:

Ruleset	Description
EU Tachograph Regulation (EU) No 165/2014	Applicable to all fleets with a European locale. Country selection: Enable this option so that the driver shall enter in the digital tachograph the symbols of the countries in which the daily working period started and finished. It shall not be necessary for drivers to enter the information if the tachograph is automatically recording location data.
EU Working Time Directive 2002/15/EC	Applicable to all fleets with a European locale. Rest Breaks Working breaks: Enable this option if the driver should perform no more than 6 hours of work without taking a break of at least 30 minutes and at least 45 minutes when the total working time is greater than 9 hours. Weekly working limit: Enable this option to restrict the working hours of the driver to a maximum of 48 hours a week. It can be extended to up to 60 hours if an average of 48 hours per week is not exceeded within four calendar months or as defined by local regulation (default 17 weeks unless stated otherwise).
EU Drivers' Hours Regulation (EC) No 561/2006	Applicable to all fleets with a European locale. Driving Limit Daily driving limit: Enable drivers to extend the daily driving limit from 9 hours to 10 hours not more than twice during the week. Weekly driving limit: Enforce a maximum weekly driving time of 56 hours. Biweekly driving limit: Enforce a maximum driving time of 90 hours over two consecutive weeks. Rest Breaks Daily rest: Enforce a minimum of 11 hours rest (or a split rest of minimum 3 hours and 9 hours) taken within 24 hours of the last daily or weekly rest period. Driving breaks: Enforce drivers to take a 45-minute break within 4 hours and 30 minutes of starting a drive. Breaks can be split into a 15 minutes period followed by one of 30 minutes. Reduced daily rests: Enforce a minimum of 11 hours rest. This can be reduced to 9 hours up to 3 times between two weekly rest periods. Weekly rest: Enforce drivers to take a weekly rest period no later than at the end of six 24-hour periods from the end of the last weekly rest period and take one regular weekly rest of at least 45 consecutive hours in any two consecutive weeks. Reduced weekly rest compensation: Enforce a reduced weekly rest before the end of the third following week by an amount equal to the reduction. Ferry or train daily rest: Enable drivers accompanying vehicles that are transported by ferry or train to interrupt their regular daily rest period not more than twice by other activities not exceeding one hour in total.
UK Working Time Regulation 2005 No.639	Applicable to all fleets with a United Kingdom locale. Rest Breaks: Enable drivers to perform no more than 6 hours of work without taking a break of at least 30 minutes and at least 45 minutes when the total working time is greater than 9 hours. Each break can be made up of separate periods of not less than 15 minutes each. Working Limit: Daily working limit for night workers: Enforce the working time of a mobile worker, who performs night work in any period of 24 hours, to not exceed 10 hours during that period. Weekly working limit: Enforce the working hours for a driver such that they may not exceed 48 hours a week. It can be extended to up to 60 hours if an average of 48 hours per week is not exceeded over a reference period of either 17 weeks or 26 weeks.
DE Working Time Arbeitzeitgesetz	Applicable to all fleets with a Germany locale. Rest Breaks Working breaks: Enable drivers to perform no more than 6 hours of work without taking a break of at least 30 minutes and at least 45 minutes when the total working time is greater than 9 hours. Each break can be made up of separate periods of not less than 15 minutes each. Daily rest: Enforce a daily rest of 11 hours minimum. This can be reduced to 10 hours if compensated within the following 4 week period. Working Limit Daily working limit: Enable drivers to extend their daily working limit to 10 hours if the average daily working time is limited to 8 hours, calculated in a rolling 6-month or 24-week window. Weekly working limit: Enforce working hours such that they do not exceed 48 hours a week. It can be extended to up to 60 hours if an average of 48 hours per week is not exceeded within four calendar months or 16 weeks.

After saving and applying a driver ruleset, the Infringement report will exclude drivers from tracking per the specified rules.
